Richard Brautigan

Richard Brautigan wrote poetry, novels and short stories. He was influenced by the San Francisco Beat poets and his own experiences in childhood.

His mother married several times and the marriages were always short lived. Despite this his early novels were optimistic to the point of being idyllic.

As time went by, they became darker, in line with his perception of the world.
