Jussi Adler Olsen was born in Copenhagen on August 2, 1950. Jussi is the son of psychiatrist Henry Olsen and has spent long periods in the environment of doctors surgeries and mental institutes through his youth. He has studied medicine and sociology. Adler Olsen has experience as a magazine editor and has owned his own publishing house named Fortaget Donna. Adler Olsen published non fiction books before turning to fiction. There are 9 Department Q novels in the series. Mercy is the first book in the series. This won the Barry Award for Best Novel in 2012.
