George V Higgins was an American author of crime novels.He was also a lawyer, a newspaper columnist and a college professor. Much of these professions infused him and contributed to his writing. As a lawyer he represented Eldridge Cleaver for a time, until they had a difference of opinion which made Higgins quit.
