Brian Friel was born in Knockmoyle, Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland on January 9, 1929.
He died on October 2, 2015 in Greencastle, County Donegal, Ireland. Friel was a dramatist and a short sory writer. He has been compared with Samuel Becker, Harold Pinter, Arthur Miller and Tennessee Williams for the quality ofhis craft.
